"Visualization inside rock mass" is a main theme of my lab. To realize it, following researches are going on:
1)
Application of Fractal distribution cracks model using AE (acoustic emission) to the longwall panels of underground coal mine,
2)
Development of logging system using the stress wave detected at the drill-bit site of rotary or percussive drilling machines,
3)
Geometrical complexity of rock structure and its influence on fracturing process,
4)
Development of interactive VR (virtual reality) Mine as a data mining system for mining management and safety.
Attached figure shows an example of Fractal distribution cracks model fabricated using AE analysis data. During uniaxial compressive loading, the AEs from prism-shape granite specimen were detected and analyzed in source locations, event energies and moment tensors to estimate the microcrack configuration. In this figure, each disk shows a crack. This model is written in VRML (virtual reality modeling language). Using plug-in browser CosmoPlayer, etc.), it will be possible to see the model from any direction and position.
